The DI operation for Chaos was performed by Digital Praxis at MotionFX, UK, and was a good example of Digital Praxis pulling together resources at its disposal to provide a full DI workflow.
The OCN was scanned at Midnight Transfer on NorthLight, with dpx frames being delivered to MotionFX on large Lacie drives, where each reel was autoconformed from the offline edl in iQ.
After the conform was complete, the iQ, now fully loaded with the complete film, was relocated to Marina Studios to use their Barco 2K projector and screening room for the DI grading process.
When the grade was complete, to iQ was returned to MotionFX and the dpx frames sent to Molinare for film-out recording on their ArriLaser film recorder.
Jason Statham and Ryan Phillippe, who star in Chaos alongside Wesley Snipes. The film was written and directed by Tony Giglio, and lensed by Richard Greatrex.
Throughout, Digital Praxis's Steve Shaw managed the whole DI operation, workflow and creative/technical approach.
VFX for the film were performed by Big Red Pixel, managed by Justin Peyton, another of the facilities that work closely with Digital Praxis. In this instance it was Justin that brought the film to Digital Praxis for the DI workflow - thanks Justin!
